The Fox and the Hippo

<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

I had a lot of fun with this project. :] The Hippo picture was taken by Peagreen on Deviant Art and the fox was taken by Nzeman. I did a fox and a hippo study from them so I could make the images below. Using the textures from the studies above I was able to make my cute little characters. I think they turned out great. :]<SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>

My computer flipped me off

Right now I have no photoshop, but I do have a couple of art stuffs. I caught a virus on my computer and I had to reformat – but luckily I was able to save stuff onto my external hard drive before everything was toast. Like Ryan! :] I painted my first portrait of someone <SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA>that I actually like. :] Which is amazing. He dances down at the embarcadero and we were supposed to make an editorial painting of some variety. I decided I would paint him because everyone I have ever done, I really haven’t liked. So that’s him dancing off into the background. He’s double-jointed, so yes he can do that second move. XD I have gotten many objections to that move.

George Romney - Lady Hamilton (as a Bacchante)

To get out of my rut, I decided to paint a master copy. I mean, I really think I need to paint more of these because the people I admire, they know what they are doing and I can learn a lot from them. This particular painting is George Romney's "Lady Hamilton (as a Bacchante)" and I had a really fun time painting it. I love painting beautiful women and I think he does too, because most of his paintings are of drop-dead gorgeous women. There is something to be loved about painting lovely red cheeks. Seriously, that was my favorite part about painting this. So I am going to do more of these just cause this was awesome. Finished in four hours and painted in Photoshop. :]

Vasilia the Beautiful

So this was my final drawing for Vasilia the Beautiful. I spent a lot of time on it and it was worth it because I really love how it came out. :] The painting is really awesome and I have to get un-lazy and take a picture of it. It's kind of pathetic how burnt out I get after the school year ends. I am SO tired. But I need to pulll myself back up and out of this rut. Luckily I don't feel completely unproductive because I've written another children's book story and I am developing the characters. :]

Owl Woman

My teacher said we were going to do creature design and he gave us three topics: Unemployed superhero, dream thief, and snow beast's daughter. I don't know why, but when I heard "snow beast daughter" my mind immediately went to "snow owl" and "beautiful woman" ... I think it was partially because I read a story a while back about an owl girl by Neil Gaiman. It was written in a different style than he normally writes in and I just really loved it. Of course this is an entirely different depiction from that of the owl girl in his story. I would think that she is more adorable than elegant. This particular owl woman is not necessarily someone who would be troubling to meet, but she would be intimidating with her height. Their culture is a peaceful one, although they often frighten those who stumble upon them with their large, rusted or overly ornate weapons. The owl woman whom I painted here is a light-bringer, a guide to those who have lost their way in the snowy winds. Her father, who wishes to marry her to a strong man from their culture, does not approve of her helping "those who cannot be helped" and her love for them. But she is stubborn and loses herself in their culture.
