Wow I am slow for posting :[ I get everything updated asap. Been pretty busy on this end with school and such - I am almost graduated! I have been working on some concept art for "Neverwhere" (Neil Gaiman's story) this semester and so far it has been really ... interesting ... I am learning a lot.

Here is what I have been learning so far:

♥ Story is the most important thing. Characters, clothing, environments, and so on are all in
response to the story. They come second.

♥ Clarity is key - rendering, cool designs ... those come later after you have made really clear images.

♥ Characters are drawn from the inside out. All of the personality of the character should show through in the design.

♥ Draw characters with movement first - wire frames. Clothing comes later. What would your character do? Who is your character? Define him/her for the audience.

♥ When drawing something out of your mind/unreal, start with shapes. Then translate it into the design.

Whoops, keep disappearing. Been pretty busy with writing my comic and concept arting it out. x9 I am excited to see what it turns out like. Also been working on Ryan's comic! So funny. I feel bad I can't post it yet. Right now, Ryan and I have all the characters drawn up along with some of the pages, it's jut a matter of refining. His is so much quicker than mine! D:

Oh yeah, you probably will never see my "awesome" comic due to my lack of being able to get anything done on it.

Here's a 45 minute study of a tiger. I had an adorable sleepy kitten in my lap the whole time, so I honestly don't know if this really even took that long. So many pet breaks. ♥ The original photo was taken by one of my favorite photographers, Sooper-Deviant, on Deviant Art. Check him out. He has some of the most phenomenal animal photos and he is really prolific.

I am exhausted! D: Just got back from visiting Ryan's family in Minnesota. It was really fun, but it was non-stop running around too! I still need to get some photos fixed up for Ryan's mom ^^; She was awesome with her choral singing some beautiful opera songs. We all took some photos after the show - I need to pry Ryan's phone away from him to get them on my computer. :9

Fanime Frantic!

WOW :o Conventions are exhausting~! Any way :] I had a great time meeting new people, chillin' with Christine, and running into new friends. I used to be SO into anime when I was younger haha I kind of revisited that when I was at Fanime. :]

I have to say, I was really unprepared, but I think I did well for my first time. :D Next time I will do better.

As I said before, I got to meet some really great people at this place, including a nice guy named Jim who took my photo and sent it to me! Now, because of his niceness, you all get to see me in my brown Lolita dress~!

I bought some really great stuff from artists too, such as the talented Robin E Kaplan. She is really good at making cute things. If you look at her cutout style, I bought 5 postcard sized prints of some of those.

Also, I had the pleasure of sitting next to a very skilled and polite young lady, whose name I did not catch. I do however have her etsy account, mulanjade. She was very friendly and I bought two of her amazing clay charms. If you love cute things, this is a must see.

I also got a Derp sign XD (because Decaf is a Derp) and some Katamari stickers for my brother. Originally I had wanted to buy him some glasses that looked like Kamina's from GurrenLagann. I saw them the first day of the Con while zipping past, but there weren't any around for the remainder of the Con :[

All in all, I am going to do it again. If not next year, then the year after. I think I am also going to try to get into other conventions. If anyone hears about an art convention on the West Coast, please let me know!

You know, I think it's really interesting that domestic cats can't roar, but they purr and lions, tigers, and some other large cats can't purr, but they ROAR. Cheetahs are the largest cats that can purr, but they are not able to roar. I saw a king cheetah up close, about ten feet away from me, and they yip. It's adorable. And now you know. Thank you AAU for the awesome big cat show. :D

Hey guys and gals, so I am alive!! I just am really busy right now :p I am currently working on the paintings for Japan's aid. Also, working my batooty off for school and analyzing my portfolio. I am having a lot of fun this semester, but like everyone else attending the Academy, I am exhausted!

Part of the reason I am tired is I got a kitten (about a month ago and he is a rescue kitty ♥.) We named him Decaf, and he is just the opposite. He is ... I think 10 months old. I will check that later. There are times when he seems like a giant, and others where he looks tiny. I think he looks bigger because Ryan and I are tiny and we live in a tiny apartment full of tiny things. He loves laps and often climbs into mine when I am reading or painting. I don't mind too much, it's just kind of a bother when I have a deadline in a few hours or the next day. He frequently attempts to sleep in my lap, which is one of the reasons he looks like a giant as he spills over the sides of my legs.

Pictures may be posted later. I apologize for the lack of art being posted lately. I have a handful and I just need to get a little less lazy.

Okay ... It's been so long! I have been pretty busy and then I was sick .... the list goes on with excuses. ANY way, I am heart broken by what is happening in Japan and I stumbled upon some art work that Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera had provided to sell for donations for Japan's aid. I thought "hmm maybe I could do something like that ... " I found out where they were donating to and decided I would work towards that same goal of selling work for helping Japan. I wanted to let other artists who are watching this know about Give 2 Asia and Artists Help Japan. If you don't have money, donate some time to make an art piece if you can afford it!

I haven't started making anything yet, but this was to let people know about the project. Of course, all money made from selling my work made for this project would go to Japan's aid, by Give 2 Asia/Artists Help Japan.

Hey all! Back from Disneyland. Can I just say that Disneyland is just that much more fun when you are under the influence of alcohol? :] California Adventure has some nice wine in that winery of theirs!

Ohh Disneyland was seriously nostalgic for me ♥ The first ride Ryan and I went on was Pirates of the Caribbean and it broke down when we were on the ride! :o A lot of rides broke down when we were there, but it was awesome and I didn't mind after Pirates. We thought there was a new ride there because when we went through Fantasyland, there was a house that had hair coming out of the window. :9 Tangled! When we first saw it there was a 75 minute wait and we thought "No way!!" So we planned on coming back later to ride it. But alas it was not a ride - it only took us walking back and forth there a dozen times to figure that out. It was where you could take a picture with Rapunzel. :p No thanks, I don't need to wait in line for that. Other than that, we went on every ride we could. :D We also ate at the Blue Bayou and then got a caricature drawn of us. It doesn't really look like us ... I think Ryan looks like Matt Damon and I look like a cross between Julianne Moore and Emily Deschanel (In the caricature I mean, not in real life XD).

California Adventure is getting some new rides like Ariel's own story book ride and an entire new land for Cars, the movie. :] Should be awesome. Sadly, Grizzly Bear Run was shut down for maintenance the entire time we were there, but it was too chilly anywho. Also, they are getting a new park area where the ride that shot you up into the air was - it's gone now :[ Tower of Terror and California Screamin' were both awesome though so I got a good fill of nifty rides.

I don't know if this was just me, but the Toy Story Midway ride didn't look like much from the outside and I had never been on it before. It is so much fun! Like the Buzz Lightyear ride, but with pop gun-esque toys and 3-d glasses instead. Fun stuff.

Hey all .... Going to get the rest of these posts done soon. Just starting school again and not really knowing what I am doing any more :[ Was looking at the Scott Pilgrim game because I recently went to the Anamanaguchi concert in my area and they did some of the music!!~*.::awesomesauce::.*~!! So anywho ... yeah that game/movie/comic/show has been being talked about EVERYWHERE. And why wouldn't it be? I have not read the comic yet, but I will *shakes fist* I saw the movie though and if that is not just the most perfect view of my generation, I don't know what is. It was so good. Going to go see it 8,000 times. Not really, I don't have that kind of money. ANY WAY! Art.

I know, you are expecting some kind of explanation for what you are seeing, but no. I am not giving you one. It's my ongoing project and I don't really feel like explaining it to everyone. Just know, it is gonna be sweet. Ta ta for now!

Moar artz! This was Egypt-themed but I really wanted to draw a kids room and I wanted to attempt viewing it from different perspectives. I think it worked out pretty darn well. I discovered how much I LOVE drawing architecture and scenery. Putting a room together is as much fun as making a character for me. ♥ I really love it. Honestly, I don't think I would mind working as a background designer or a prop designer ... I thought I would, but I love it a lot more. Even landscapes have more meaning to me now, whereas before I thought it would be daunting to make a scene with no people. For this project, I would have preferred not to have put anyone in this at all and just made the room. That's how much I ♥ doing this.

Lately I have been wanting to do more traditional art work ... I get a craving sometimes. These were all drawings, but I wanted to do painting. I think I will go back -work on the perspective and the rooms a bit more - and paint these in gouache. I recently just did a gouache painting (which I haven't done since summer of 2009 ... and those were all flat colours) for my cousin's graduation and I love how it turned out. After I finish posting all of these drawings I will post it. But 'til then ... squirm with anticipation!!

P.S. To all of the people who know what the title refers to. Yes. I love that show. ;9
